BOUCLE DE BURBS - ALL WRAPPED UP!

It's nearly September. I don't think that's really sunk in yet - nor has the fact that the 2017 Boucle de Burbs is now behind us! After weeks of preparation, running around getting this and that printed up, putting up signage around the route and setting up, at 10:30 on Sunday the 20th the first riders on this year's Boucle moved off from Bonython Park, bellies full of pastries and espresso and rugged up to brave the worst weather we've seen to date on our favourite day in August.

The first 10 or so km of the route headed North through Prospect and Walkerville before linking back up with the River Torrens Linear Park through St Peters and heading into Stepney to catch a food truck at Little Bang Brewing for a little paella - a welcome hot lunch on what would turn out to be a pretty wet afternoon, though the rain was still holding off at this point.

Riders went on to the South-East corner of the city, with some stunning alleys and laneways inside our own CBD that I'd never even known existed, but was pleasantly surprised to find out about! The Southern Parklands housed a pop-up at the dirt jumps where Poler and Mischief Brew were all set up to sling some cold-brew, hand out stickers and have the riders drool over some outdoor gear - some even tried on the Napsack once they'd stopped for a minute and cooled down!

Those who thought they still had enough time to make it to the Hobbledehoy Raceway (read: those who hadn't stopped for two hours at the brewery!) were met with a challenge - line up against your friends on the trot track and race around it to win some records from our favourite label, Hobbledehoy Records.

The skies opened up as we returned to the finish to huddle under marquees and hand out some prizes for the day, including not one but two brand new Tokyobikes to two lucky winners! Though we all got a little wet, the vibe was great at the end of the day, with a real feeling of a shared experience being out there in the thunder and lightning!

A huge thanks to all of our partners for this year's Boucle, and to all of you who make putting this event possible by supporting this thing we love so much!
